10 Pins Tuesday- Inspirational

Sometimes pinterest can be so inspiring. I picked ten pins that really make me want to do or be or grow or sit and contemplate my existence.

1. This video makes me want to sing in a choir again. I miss those days! Seriously, just take the 8 minutes and watch it all. It's really well done.

2. This drawing makes me want to crochet. (a lot!) I've been crocheting again. I'm really pushing myself to get my spring/summer afghan done.

3. This pillow makes me want to embroider... but I'm too busy crocheting right now, lol.

 4.  This stencil makes me want to finish and paint my bathroom.

5. This makes me want to transform that ganky pallet in our garage into a herb garden.

6. This makes me want to pimp out an adult space in our back or front yard. Seriously, couldn't you just read and drink wine there for hours???

7. This makes me want to paint our coffee table bright yellow. (I'm kinda a chicken though... I sneak in my color in little bits. BUT I love this colorful coffee table)

8. This makes me want to be that artist I always wanted to be. I need some wealthy patrons to pay me to go walk in circles in the snow and make art. This is so cool... I die!

9. This makes me want to stand by the sea and soak in how small I am and how big God is.

10. This makes me want to paint. (I've tried a copy with water colors, but they were not the correct medium. I need to use acrylics the next time I try it.)

So there ya go! Be Inspired! Go, do, make, be, sit and contemplate!

10 Pins Tuesday

Yay, 10 Pins Tuesday again! Let's get to it!!! This time I did all things that I love.

1. I love to crochet. Drawing from Obey Crochet... so many more funny ones.

2. Glasses :) worn them since Kindergarten. These are from Warby Parker, which is the Tom's Shoes of glasses. You buy a pair, they donate a pair.

3. Graffiti- This is street art from London.

4. Owls- I have a whole board on Pinterest devoted to my owl love. This picture makes me fantasize about being a character in Harry Potter. I would soooo have an owl.
5. Monsters- I also have a board devoted to my monster love... this guy is the cutest!

6. Mermaids- Yep, you guessed it, I have a whole board for mermaids too. This one is from a vintage Golden Book version of the Little Mermaid.

7. I love this porch with it's awesome custom made slats.(I was kinda thinking something like this for our back yard...)

8. Make your own granola bars. I've really been loving granola bars lately especially Cliff bars... yummy.

9. White ink tattoos... seriously magical!

10. And THIS!
See? Other people love their dogs as much as me, lol. (P.S. a not-funny from this morning... Journey ran away, but Justin was able to get her home. She almost got hit by a car for real though, and I'm still all shook up about it.)

HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS WEEK'S 10 PIN TUESDAY!!!

Celebrate Color- Fall Inspiration

I love fall. It's my favorite season :) When I think about fall, I think about walking thorugh a Gustav Klimt painting. Gold, red, orange, jewely blues, greens, and purples... lovely! And who can forget the earthy browns :)
This is an AWESOME adaption of Klimt's The Kiss. Here is a picture of the original.

P.S. I have a theory about favorite seasons. It seems that most people's favorite season is the season their birthday is in? I'm a September baby, so it's true for me. Is this true for you?

home is... here, but not here... stuck in limbo

According to my adorable husband Justin....

Well, a few days ago, he packed up most of his x-box 360 games... I think all but two. Something I've been dreading packing is the kitchen, because it contains one of the sources of my happiness: tea! I have an entire cabinet of tea, and in an itty-bitty apartment with only four cabinets, it says a lot that 1/4 of my cabinet space has been taken up by tea, lol. In my opinion, home is where the tea is :) but since Justin was such a good sport, I thought I should be too... so I have packed all most all of my teas. I think I only left out ten flavors, and that was hard. I'm an addict, lol.

We are officially in moving limbo... and it's no party! Almost everything is in boxes... Justin will ask, "Hey baby, where's the _______?" And I'll say, "I just put that in a box a few days ago... I'm pretty sure it already at the house." UGH! This part of moving sucks! For those of you who've done it recently, you know what I mean... any encouraging would be good... I still have finals to take on top of this craziness... but it will all be over soon enough.

*p.s. I made that "home is" picture for Justin two Christmas' ago. He didn't know where to hang it at the apartment, and he didn't want it to get dirty so he's kept it in the plastic they put it in when it was custom framed. It's the first thing he is hanging in his man den, lol. Found the pattern via Sprite Stitch.

more are to love :)

Today while blog searching I found the most wonderful artist! Laurageorge of Chicago's prints are so happy and whimsical, I can't help but love them. These two remind me of my husband and I...

He is a mustache man and fan, lol.

And I have worn glasses since kindergarten... when they fortunately dicovered that I could not see two feet in front of my face. "Clare look at the board"... "There's a board?"

Yay for art on etsy! I think these prints might find a home in my living room :)

if I don't write them down now, I won't remember...

Ideas:

I had two good ideas last night as I was falling asleep. By a miracle I still remember them now, lol.

  1. For my kitchen, I want to make a cafe curtain. I've been playing around with all kinds of stuff, but have recently been really inspired by Feeling Stitchy's Blog. I think I just want to make a plain white or creme colored pocket curtain and then add little embroidery doodles as I feel so inspired. I might make the doodles tell the story of our house, our love, and our future kids. So I'll stitch important dates, pictures, quotes, and memories. I like the idea that it will be an ever changing curtain, and it will make me happy to have something so sentimental in my kitchen. It's gonna be kinda like a embroidered curtain scrapbook :)
*I may or may not use the little boxes... I like the idea of a more organic and free flowing curtain.
  1. I have a "Florida Water Birds" poster that used to be my Grandma Hilda's. It hung over her hat rack. She would always make us grab a hat to wear to the beach... she had a ton of hats, but they were all kinda old ladyish, so I hated wearing them. I would do anything to go to the beach though, so I would just grin and bear it. Grandma's house was full of wonderful things. She had that "museum of natural history" style that's so hot right now down. She had pinned butterflies, jar collections, and picture books everywhere. I loved that about her house. I'm so glad to have this poster because it reminds me of all those good times. My mama had it mounted to protect it from further damage, it got a little beat up on it's way to me. (I think it actually looks even cooler now.)
BUT ANYWAY, the idea! Recently I acquired this huge print and frame. I have been looking for

a frame big enough to put my poster in for a while now... and this one is big enough... and a little too big...

I was pondering where I would go to get my costume mat... which I new was gonna be really expensive, but i was willing to bite that bullet because I got the frame for free. But then a light bulb went off. I used to do photography and we learned to cut mats. There are always scraps :) I think I want to collect a bunch of white, creme, blue, green, and brown mat scraps and upcycle them into a giant mat for my giant poster. It looks really good in my head... so after we move I think I'm gonna go to all the places around town I know who do custom framing and ask if I can have their mat scraps to recycle. :) Hopefully they will let me have them :)

OH, and as a bonus, I think I'm gonna reuse the black and white print in a decoupage project I'm dreaming about.... Ok, enough dreaming, I need to get down to business and work on my last paper... *trudges off to the less fun part of her day*

upcycling ideas

Mostly Nursery Related:
(source)

I lead an Art group on campus, and our art show is tomorrow :)

I can't sleep, I'm too excited, lol.

So what am I doing... googling upcycled projects :)

Here's some of my favs!

I want to make a penny rug for my nursery out of recycled wool sweaters :) I love the white background and crazy mix of colors :) (source)

For some reason these just really crack me up :P (source)

I've actually made a tie skirt before, but since ties are so heavy is wasn't that comfy to wear... I love how it looked though... This is making me want to resurrect it and add a top making it into a dress... oh the possibilities.

OK, so I've gotten off track... google does that to me... before I go I will share one last nursery idea. So far these are the must have for my nursery.

Berkley Illustration- He is a genious... I love all his work. My second favs after the ducks are his skunks and rabbits. He puts up new stuff a lot, and they are all so cute. These are definitely going to be in my nursery. My DH likes them too... our first date was feeding the ducks.
